Strengths based, trauma informed, and intersectional
Hi, I'm Aimee (she/they). I'm a queer, nonbinary social worker in the glorious Pacific Northwest.
As a licensed, clinical social worker (LICSW), I have training and experience in working with individuals and families using a strengths-based, trauma informed, and intersectional lens. That means I see the best in you, do my best to not retraumatize you, and honor all your different roles and identities. I spent the first four years of my career working with folks who experience stressors and traumas in multiple aspects of their lives, including homophobia, transphobia, racism, systemic oppression, unstable housing, financial instability, and more. I am passionate about psychoeducation, because I believe that understanding why and how something is happening can be healing.
In addition to a generalist practice (things like depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder), I have significant experience in working with members of the LGBTQ+ community. I have completed more than a hundred hours specialized training, and more than a thousand hours of direct service with LGBTQ+ children, adults, and families. My training and experience includes writing letters of support for transgender and gender diverse teens and young adults seeking gender-affirming health care. I'm not here to be a gatekeeper. I'm here to help you get the care you deserve.
My greatest gift as a therapist is empathy. My counseling style is flexible, and always incorporates humor. One of my core beliefs as a therapist is that everyone needs someone to witness, accept, and value their weirdness -- especially folks who have been rejected for being different.
